Volumes of displacement on day 15: Lungs were inflated to 25 cm H2O, dissected en bloc and fixed overnight. The displacement of water by these lungs was determined and normalized to body weight in grams. Both Dex- and Dex + RA-treated animals had increased volumes of displacement as compared to controls and RA-treated animals (* p < 0.01).
