Values are means ± SEM. CHO and ldlD cells were pulse labeled for 30 min and chased for 90 min as described in MATERIALS AND METHODS. Where indicated, GalNAc, with or without Gal, were included in the starvation, pulse, and chase media (abbreviations are described in legend to Figs. 1–6). Cells were either solubilized immediately or returned to culture; immunoprecipitates of [35S]MUC1 were subjected to SDS-PAGE and phosphoimager analysis. The half-life of [35S]MUC1 was calculated as described in MATERIALS AND METHODS.
