IL-1β and IL-8 mRNA expression in laser-captured β-cell was analyzed by gene array and real-time PCR. Real-time PCR results were expressed as fold of a positive control sample arbitrarily defined as 1. Results passed the normality test. P, Controls vs. diabetics (t test); nd, not detectable.
