Exaggerated mGluR-LTD in CGG KI mice is protein synthesis dependent. (A) Field EPSPs were recorded in CA1 stratum radiatum in response to Schaffer collateral stimulation. Addition of the group 1 mGluR agonist DHPG (100 μM; 10 min) induced LTD at CA3–CA1 synapses; this mGluR-LTD was significantly enhanced in CGG KI mice. n = 9 (WT) and 13 (CGG KI). Inset: Shown are representative averages of four consecutive field potential waveforms from each group during the baseline period and 1 h after LTD induction. (B) mGluR-LTD in FMR1 KO mice persists in the presence of the protein synthesis inhibitor anisomycin (20 µM), as previously reported (9). n = 7 (control) and 8 (aniso).
