A1,A2, B1, and B2 represent magnifications of the demarcated areas in A andB. There is strong Aβ immunoreactivity in the form of plaques in dentate gyrus and the CA3 field. Note the decreased Aβ load in the dentate gyrus (especially in the molecular layer of dentate gyrus) on the side ipsilateral to lesion (B1) compared with the side contralateral to lesion (B2) and sham (A1, A2).
